Primary Purpose:
The Sr Relationship Manager develops and manages an individual loan portfolio and provides mentorship and guidance to junior team members. The position will lead the credit process with its support team, will partner with the credit team to deliver the appropriate credit solutions and will consult with various business partners to create a team-based book of relationships.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: (Majority of duties performed, but not meant to be all inclusive or to prevent other duties from being assigned)
Business Development
Develops meaningful relationships with targeted customers, prospects and referral sources, including Centers of Influence.
Supports the bank in achieving individual and team goals, while always acting in the customer's best interest.
Represents the bank in public relations activities and community affairs.
Leads all business development activities of the team and will include: Vetting targeted customers, prospects and referral sources.
Manage a Loan, Deposit and Service-based Portfolio
Interviews clients and provides the appropriate loan, deposit or service to resolve the customers identified needs.
Analyzes applicant financial status and credit to determine feasibility of granting a loan.
Approves loans that meet established lending criteria and are within approved lending limits. Works with credit administration on loans exceeding the individual loan limits.
Negotiates pricing and structure, prepares appropriate loan documentation and verifies loan agreements are complete and accurate according to bank policy.
Accountable for leading all portfolio management responsibilities including monitoring client performance and ongoing risks, past dues, problem asset management, future maturities, ticklers and exceptions.
Leverages the Loan Administrative Assistants and Portfolio Managers to create a team-based customer service experience and risk management routines.
Partnerships
Partners with local leadership and various business units to create team-based customer relationships (Treasury Management, Equipment Finance, Capital Markets, Tax Credits, Wealth Management, Merchant Services and Premier Banking).
Job Specifications: (Knowledge, skills, and abilities normally required for competent performance in the job)
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
A minimum of 10 years experience in a financial institution including credit analysis and commercial banking.
The completion of an appropriate banking school is preferred.
Knowledgeable of Bank's loan policies and procedures and general laws and regulations applicable to general banking and commercial banking.
Strong understanding and application of credit and finance.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong negotiating skills.
Sales and business development oriented. Has a good network of business contacts.
Must have excellent analytical and critical thinking skills and be able to multitask under pressure.
Must have a desire to thrive in a fast paced and team-focused environment.
